WordPress Essex Meetup – May 2018

A Blue 37 Event

At the WordPress Essex Meetup this month we’re getting hands-on with our WordPress sites. We’ll be looking at plugins, discussing functionality and discovering if there’s a better way to accomplish tasks in our sites. We’ll also be tuning up our wp-admin at our WordPress Clinic, so bring your questions, issues and general advice.

**ROOM CHANGE** We’re in the Sawyers Building room SAW 001, access via The Lord Ashcroft Building.

Plugin Updates

In this session we’ll discuss our go-to plugins, highlight new & interesting discoveries, as well as find alternatives solutions to common issues. This will be an opportunity for you to get involved, so come prepared with your favourite plugins.

Presented by Dan Maby. Dan is a Director at Blue 37 (https://blue37.com/) a creative digital agency. He thrives on business development & project management, as well as having a passion for productivity & marketing. When not in front of a screen, you’ll find him organising events. Follow him @danmaby (https://twitter.com/danmaby).

WordPress Clinic

We’ll have an informal session to review and suggest improvements to your own WordPress websites. This means you’ll have some practical advice to takeaway, or pickup some inspiration by looking at what others are doing, or simply learn what tools you can use to run your own checks.

If you have any specific WordPress questions, you’re also very welcome to share these with the group. Our WordPress Essex group covers all abilities, from beginners to advanced users, so don’t be shy!

In this session, we can also demo some methods used to audit websites, such as mobile-friendly testing, loading speed testing, SEO (search engine optimisation), etc, as well as critiquing design and content.

(Optional – if you want to send Mike your website’s URL in advance, he’ll also be able to carry out a more in-depth analysis to share during the evening).

Presented by Mike Pead. Mike works at Primary Image (https://www.primaryimage.uk), a WordPress design agency based in Southend-on-Sea, who support businesses of all sizes across the UK. Follow him @mikepead (https://twitter.com/mikepead)
